The redesign of software screens and components for chemical and immunoassay analyzers.
-
The design of an evaluation system for laboratory equipment.
Outcomes
-
Received approval for redesign of software screens and components to be implemented in future software releases
-
Collaboratively designed an evaluation system and presented mockups and prototypes to regulatory team
-
Gained an understanding of laboratory diagnostic equipment and technical software
-
Attended a site visit to the Flanders facility to see the production, testing, and manufacturing of equipment

Takeaways
Some key takeaways from my internship experience:
Reach Out
-
Since my internship was virtual, it was extremely valuable to reach out to my coworkers. Setting up a meeting to chat about their experience or ask questions about project details helped me build connections and stay engaged with coworkers.
Collaboration
-
All of the projects that I contributed to involved individuals with various professional backgrounds. It was a great experience to work alongside fellow designers, but also engineers, researchers, and developers.
Growth and Development
-
Being open to receiving feedback can help expand your mindset as a designer. Whether that consists of design critiques or feedback on improving presentation skills, it is important to make an active effort to grow and develop.
